Hand Creme
Well I’ve mentioned the sunscreen from Lac Verde which is great, I’ve also been using their Hand Creme which is also excellent. Looking after the organic garden this Summer, I’ve needed a product that can nourish dry and chaffed skin effectively and this is it. Having used Burt’s Bees Hand Salve for a while, I find Lac Verde’s product to be much more effective at repairing dry and damaged skin. It has an impressive list of natural ingredients including Almond oil, Organic Sunflower oil, Safflower oil, Avocado oil, purified water, Beeswax, Lanolin, Vitamin E, Organic Aloe Vera, Organic Comfrey Root, Organic Chamomile, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Essential Oils of Clove and Carrot Seed.
All of the Lace Verde Naturals products use ingredients sourced from a certified organic handler. Organic Hand Creme or to purchase here
Organic Sunscreen
I just wanted to give a shout for a great product that I’ve been using all Summer. Lac Verde Naturals have an organic sunscreen that works exceptionally well. Being fair-skinned I need a product that isn’t going to deteriorate after a few hours in the sun, and the Lac Verde sunscreen fits that bill well.
An all natural sunscreen made from a blend of natural and organic herbs, it isn’t too oily and works easily into the skin for lasting protection. There’s a little more information here Lac Verde Sunscreen and they also have a great face creme made with rich royal jelly.
Protect yourself from the harmful rays of the sun!
Propolis Benefits
We talked a little about propolis in the previous post but didn’t really cover the benefits of propolis. As already stated, this thick, dark glue-like substance is used around the beehive for its anti-biotic properties and its ability to create a sterile environment. Humans can use propolis topically on cuts and sores to prevent infection and aid the healing process. Propolis benefits can be realized with mouth sores such as cankers and ulcers, and it is sold widely for such topical uses where the product must also be safe to ingest.
There are quite a few other propolis uses and benefits listed here, mostly related to the anti-septic anti-biotic properties and benefits of bee propolis.
Healthy Summer Salad with Honey
I love the fresh, sweet cherry tomato’s that grow abundantly in the garden this time of year. A great way to serve them is by simply halving around a dozen mixed-color tomato’s and placing them in a medium sized serving bowl. Add the juice from half a lemon, a few grates of lemon zest, a splash of balsamic vinegar, a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, a half cup of finely diced red onion, or substitute with leeks for a milder flavor, a full finely diced jalapeno pepper (go hotter if you prefer this real spicy, my favorite is a habanero, and salt/pepper to taste. Add a teaspoon of fresh honey to cut the acidity and add a touch of sweetness and flavor.
Allow the mix to sit for a couple hours to blend the flavors.
You can make some easy additions to this simple salad to match the theme of the main course of food you are preparing – for Italian foods, add some chopped fresh Italian Parsley and/or fresh basil just before serving. Sprinkle with some fresh ground parmesan cheese.
For ethnic foods like Indian, Mexican, Thai etc, add fresh cilantro and a splash more lime juice for extra zest and pungency.
Deliciously healthy food which can be served as a main dish too.
